Paper Shredding Bins

The Columbia County KISS Program is once again available to seniors in every town in Columbia County. The KISS Program, founded by Columbia County Clerk Holly Tanner, stands for Keeping the Identities of Seniors Safe. It was designed to protect the identities of our seniors while assisting them in the shredding of their sensitive materials. Seniors are encouraged to contact their local Town Hall for hours of operation and more information on the program. Justin Weaver, Columbia County Clerk’s Records Services Manager, is overseeing the program and can also be contacted with any questions at 518-822-0143.

 The bins will be available during regular business hours of the Town Hall:  Monday evenings 6-8pm, Tuesday & Fridays 9:30 - 12:30pm; Thursdays 12:00 - 3:00pm; and Saturdays 10am - Noon.

Town Clerk

Melissa Naegeli is the Town Clerk & Tax Collector.  She was appointed in 2006 to the position of Deputy Clerk then, upon the resignation of then Clerk Lori Ennis, Melissa was appointed to the position of Clerk effective January 1, 2007.  The Town Clerk & Tax Collector position is an elected, 4 year term of office. 

The Office of the Town Clerk is open on Monday evenings 6-8pm, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 9:30-12:30 & Saturdays 10:00am  - Noon; and by appointment.

Services of the Town Clerk’s Office include:

Dog Licensing Fees & Process: 

The fee for an unneutered or unspayed dog is $15.00 ($3.00 goes to NYS) and the fee for a neutered or spayed dog is $8.00 (with $1.00 going to NYS).  With a new license, the fee includes the tag.  To get a dog licensed you must provide a copy of an up-to-date rabies certificate.  The license is good for one year from the date of the issuance.  Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit/debit (additional fee will apply).

Hunting Licenses: 

There are various types of licenses issued through NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation – deer, turkey, fishing, etc. that may be purchased at the Town Clerk’s Office.  Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit/debit (additional fee will apply).

Trash Bag Sales:

The prices for the trash bags are as follows:

  • 7 gal bag:  .50 each
  • 15 gal bag:  $2.00 each
  • 30 gal bag:  $3.00 each
  • 40 gal bag:  $4.00 each
  • 55 gal bag:  $5.00 each

The bags come in rolls of 5 but may be purchased in any quantity you would like.  Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit/debit card (additional fee will apply).

Parking Permits: 
Temporary and Permanent Parking Tags are available in the Town Clerk's Office with a form completed by a physician.  Forms are also availalbe from the Town Clerk.  Permanent Tags are renewed every 3 years and do not require another completed form.  Expiration dates are noted on the tags.

Marriage Licenses:  $40 cash, check, or credit/debit (additional fee will apply).

Certified copies of all vital records are $10 per copy.
