Big Weekend in Town

This is a big weekend in the Town of Stuyvesant!

Tonight (8/10) is the Annual Corn Festival at the historic Railroad Station at Stuyvesant Landing. Beginning at 4pm, there will be vendors, Hands of Bleu massage therapist, Supervisor Knott will be cooking hamburgers & hot dogs, and the Committee will have a variety of corn-based treats available.

Tomorrow (8/11) is Historic Stuyvesant Day.

The day will begin with the Ken Hummel Memorial Races — the grounds at the Town Hall will be abuzz starting at 7am. “Day of” Registration will open at 7:30am. The kids’ 1 Mile “Chicken Run” will begin at 8:30 and the 5K Walk, Run, and Duathlon will begin at 9am.

ROAD CLOSURES: County Route 26A will be closed between 9J and Sharptown Road beginning at 8:20am. Summerset Rd., Gibbons Road (between Summerset and 26A), and Church Street (to the cemetery), and Sunset Drive will be closed beginning at approximately 8:55. Please note that all closures, other than 26A, will reopen as it becomes safe for the participants of the race. Cyclicts will be on County Route 26A, Gypsy Rock Road, Route 9 (heading south), School Rd., 9J (heading north), and Gibbons Road; please watch for their safety if you are going to be travelling on any of those tomorrow morning.

The Annual Historic Stuyvesant Day Picnic begins at Noon at the Ice House Road Pavilion. This year, Poehlsburg is being celebrated with historical information and a bus tour of the area, narrated by Town Historian Juanita Knott. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs and beverages will be provided by the Town, please bring a dish to share.
