Help Wanted

The Town of Stuyvesant has an open Justice position. The Town Board would like to appoint a capable and willing candidate. A perspective candidate must be prepared to attend mandatory training* during the week of Dec. 10th thru 14th, full days in Albany. (*If the candidate is an Attorney, the training is waived).

The current position will expire on December 31, 2019. However, it will be on the ballot in the General Election in November 2019 for a full 4 year term.

Town Courts have criminal jurisdiction over violations and misdemeanors; and civil jurisdiction over claims of up to $3000. As Magistrates, Town Court Justices hold arraignments and preliminary hearings for those charged with more serious crimes. Traffic infractions are also heard in Town Courts.

Letters of interest and resume or questions to Supervisor Ron Knott at 5 Sunset Drive, Stuyvesant, NY 12173 or email to [email protected] by November 26th. Interviews will be held November 27th and 28th.
