December 2018

Happy Holidays!

This Thursday, Dec. 6th, is a special date for the Town Board Meeting (to be held in lieu of the regular meeting night). The meeting will be a 7pm at the Town Hall.

The Planning Board is scheduled to meet on December 17th and the Zoning Board is scheduled to meet on December 19th. The changes are due to the Christmas Holiday.

There will be an End-of-Year meeting on Thursday, December 27th at 7pm. Please join us for an small end-of-year reception, immediately following the meeting.

The Hudson River Valley Greenway and our consultants – GPI (Greenman-Pedersen, Inc.) and Alta Planning + Design – continue to make progress on the planning and engineering design for creation of the Albany-Hudson Electric Trail (AHET). This update summarizes recent activities and describes activities planned for the next six months. Comprehensive information about the project is available on their website at www.AHETtrail.org.

Shoreline upgrades planned

As many of you may know, Supervisor Knott has been working with DEC for a number of years on a sustainable shoreline project at Nutten Hook. Local residents have been sharing their memories and concerns for this area with him for years and he has had the opportunity to share those concerns with folks at DEC who have listened. Several years ago a grant was awarded and engineering began to rebuild the bulkhead along the shoreline at the end of Ferry Rd, and construction of a handicapped accessible fishing pier has been planned. In recent times we have seen NYS DOT make a significant investment at the intersection of State Rte. 9J and FEMA has provided funding to several homes on the road to elevate them out of current flood plains.

This area has and continues to be a very attractive area to local fisherman and sight seers.

DEC is taking public comments on the plan through December 13th. Comments can be made to Evan Hogan, NYSDEC Region 4 headquarters, 130 N. Westcott Road, Schenectady NY 12306; or 518-357-2069 or [email protected].

Please take a minute to share your thoughts of the importance of this unique Riverfront property in the town of Stuyvesant with DEC.

The Exemptions have all been mailed. Please have them back to the Assessor’s Office by March 1st. Do not think you have to wait that long, they can be returned as soon as you get them. Please note, if you have to include your tax return information, it will be the 2017 Tax Return (as filed in 2018).

The Town Clerk’s Office will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 6th to attend Training. Please note: The Assessor’s Office will be closed Dec. 21st through Dec. 25. The office will reopen on Friday, December 28th. All Offices will be closed on December 24th, December 25th, December 31st, and January 1st.

REMINDERS:

There is no parking allowed on Town Roads between November 1st and March 31st. This is particularly critical during snowstorms.

It is a violation of NYS Law to through snow (or other debris) into public roadways. Please keep this in mind when shoveling or snowblowing your driveways.
