New AHET Trail Website

The Hudson River Valley Greenway has created a new AHET website.  Detailed information is still available in two locations:

  1. Narrative descriptions and an on-line map depicting the AHET trail route, designated parking areas, and nearby attractions is available on the Empire State Trail website.  For example, here’s a link to the EST website page for the trail section from Kinderhook to Nassau:   https://empiretrail.ny.gov/poughkeepsie-albany/kinderhook-nassau.
  2. We have created a new AHET page on HRVG’s website:  https://hudsongreenway.ny.gov/albany-hudson-electric-trail, which includes “Trail User Information” that includes  State Regulations and Policies governing trail use; Safety Tips; an Emergency Response Overview; and responses to Frequently Asked Questions.

A section labeled “History & Interpretation” section allows visitors to download PDF copies of 15 interpretive panels the Greenway has installed along the AHET trail, covering a variety of subjects include the history of the trolley line, villages along the route, Native Americans, and natural history information.

People with specific questions or seeking additional information about the AHET trail can contact the Hudson River Valley Greenway by email at [email protected]
