August 2021

Can you believe it’s almost August??

Before we get to the August events & news, this weekend is the Columbia County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Annual Convention. The Convention is being hosted by Stuyvesant Falls Fire Company #2 and the festivities begin this evening. The grounds of the VFW will open at 6pm. There will be an Association business meeting at 7pm. At 8:00pm there will be an Awards Ceremony and Memorial Service honoring members, open to the public. At the conclusion of the ceremonies, Jarrod will entertain until approximately 11pm.

Stuyvesant Falls Fire Company will have hot dogs, water, and soda available at no charge. Schodack Landing Fire Company will be there selling other types of foods and Stockport Fire Company will be there selling Root Beer Floats. There will be alcoholic beverages available for sale for those over 21 years old — there will be a bracelet system in place administered by the Stuyvesant Falls Fire Company.

The parade steps off on Saturday, 7/31 at 2pm. The parade route is Route 25 from Rabbit Lane toward the Post Office. The route turns left and concludes at the VFW Grounds.

The following road closures will be in place:

  • Route 25 at 9H will close at 12:45 to allow for the fire companies to assemble and begin lining up for the parade;
  • Stuyvesant Falls Bridge will be closed beginning at 1:45 (the sign says 12:30 but we have it from the Parade Coordinator that the closing will happen 15 minutes prior to the start of the parade so you can get in and get a good spot to watch);
  • Route 25 at Feltner Road and W. Ghent Road at Feltner Road will close at 2pm.
  • All roads will reopen at approximately 3:30, at the conclusion of the parade.
