As you may be aware, the County has been experiencing issues with restocking garbage bags. They were recently notified by their vendor that they were opting out of the contract due to their inability to secure ink, resin, and employees. With these and other issues, the County has decided to implement a wonderful way to eliminate excess plastic being disposed of in the landfills.
The County will implement a bag-tag system consisting of 3 different color tags based on the size of the bags. You will put the tags on bags you purchase at the store. The three sizes will be:
- Small $1.00 Tag — for bags up to 10 gallon maximum
- Medium $3.00 Tag — for bags 13 – 33 gallon
- Large $5.00 Tag — for bags over 33 gallon up to 55 gallon maximum
One tag is required for each plastic trash bag. Tag must be affixed to the bag, either around the neck of the bag or on the bag itself. It is recommended that garbage tags be purchased as a sheet (5 tags/sheet).
The Town Clerk Office will continue to sell County bags until the stock is sold-out. Tags will be available at the Clerk’s Office when the bag supply is gone.
