Help Wanted – Planning & Zoning Boards

The Town of Stuyvesant Planning Board is a seven member Board appointed by the Town Board, each serving a seven year term.  This Board reviews and approves subdivisions and site plan proposals and administers the Town’s zoning and subdivision laws in order to maintain orderly and efficient development within the Town. The Board assures all proposals brought before it are in compliance with our Town’s Comprehensive Plan. Members are required to obtain four hours of training per year. There is one vacant position with a term that expires in 2026.

The Town of Stuyvesant Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is a seven member board appointed by the Town Board, each serving a seven year term. The Board’s purpose is two-fold. First, under the appellate jurisdiction, the Board has the power to hear and decide appeals from administrative officials charged with the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town, that is, to interpret the Zoning Ordinance and to grant variances. If a variance is granted, it will be up to the Town’s Code Enforcement Officer to insure that the stipulations established by the ZBA are adhered to by the applicant. Members are required to obtain four hours of training per year. The vacant position is an Alternate Member position. Alternate members are expected to attend meetings and meet training requirements and to be prepared to step in for a Member’s absence.

If you are a resident of the town of Stuyvesant and interested in serving on either of these boards, please send letter of interest to;
