We hope your holidays were healthy and enjoyable.
We are notifying you that tax bills will be out in the mail this afternoon (12/29). Last year there were issues with mail delivery so the County has asked that the Tax Collectors announce when the bills are being mailed so you can be on the look out. The bills will also be viewable on the town website (stuyvesantny.us) by tomorrow, Dec. 30th, they will be live for payment will be January 1, 2022.
Tax bills may be paid in person at the Town Clerk/Tax Collector’s Office in the Town Hall with cash, check, or credit/debit card. They may also be paid in person at the Valatie Branch of the Greene County Bank. Bills may also be paid online by going to the website and choosing “Pay My Taxes”. The link will bring you to another site where you can search for your bill and pay with either a credit card or echeck. Please note that there is a convenience fee of 2.45% for credit cards and a flat fee of $1.75 for electronic checks. (The convenience fee also applies if using a credit card in the office). These addtiional fees go to the processing company, they do not stay in the Town.
If you are planning to pay online or at the bank please note that only full payments will be accepted. Full and partial payments will be accepted at the Town Clerk/Tax Collector’s Office. A partial payment of a minimum of 1/3 of the existing balance will be accepted. Please note that if you choose this option, interest will accrue on any outstanding balance at a rate of 1% per month beginning on February 1st. (1% in February, 2% in March, 3% in April, and 4% in May). Any outstanding balances at the end of the collection period (May 31) will be returned to the County Treasurer’s Office for collection.
Another announcement — the Town Hall will be closed on January 1, 2022. There will be a Swearing In Ceremony at 11:00am and all are invited to attend; a small reception will be held immediately following the ceremony.
