Dog License and Renewals

Dogs in NYS also must be licensed over the age of 4 months. You can renew your dog’s license online or in-person. With either option, you must have a current rabies certificate on file.

Online Dog License and Renewal

When filing online, payment can be made either by credit/debit card or electronic check. Please note that convenience fees will apply.

Enter your dog’s license number and your last name. Verify that all of yours and your dog’s information is correct. Please allow one week for processing and your new license will be mailed to you.

In-Person Dog License and Renewal

Bring your dog’s updated rabies certificate to the Town Clerk’s Office (only for the initial license so you can get the tag) and it takes a total of about 10 minutes. You will be asked to provide some information (your address, the dog’s name, the dog’s age, etc.) and you will leave with your license and tag. Renewal reminders are mailed out quarterly and may be handled through the mail.

Dog Licensing Fees and Processing

  • The fee for an unneutered or unspayed dog is $15.00 ($3.00 goes to NYS).
  • The fee for a neutered or spayed dog is $8.00 ($1.00 going to NYS).
  • With a new license, the fee includes the tag.

To get a dog licensed you must provide a copy of an up-to-date rabies certificate. The license is good for one year from the date of the issuance. Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit/debit (additional fee will apply).
