The taxes are mailed out at the end of December so residents receive them within a couple of days of January 1^st.  They are due without penalty by January 31^st.  Interest at 1% per month is assessed beginning February 1^st.  Second notices are mailed out at the end of March and a $2.00 second notice fee is then attached to any outstanding balance (in addition to the appropriate percentage of interest).

Taxes are collected at the Town Tax Collector’s Office only until May 31^st.  After that date, taxes are paid directly to the County Treasurer’s Office. Taxes do not have to be paid in full but a payment of at least 1/3 of the balance due is the minimum payment that may be accepted.
