Historic Stuyvesant Day

Hello Visitor,

Thank you for subscribing to the Town of Stuyvesant newsletter.

We have another big weekend in Stuyvesant coming up! Tomorrow, August 8th, is our celebration of Historic Stuyvesant Day. The day will begin with the 9th Annual Ken Hummel Memorial 5K Race & Walk and Kids’ 1 Mile Chicken Run. Registration table opens at 8am at Town Hall. There is still time to register or even just come to cheer on your friends and neighbors.

This Historic Stuyvesant Day picnic will begin at Noon at the new Ice House Road pavillion. Parking is limited at the site, so we encourage you to park at the Town Hall and car pool. Please bring a dish or dessert to share and come enjoy the beautiful, new river access. Town Historian Juanita Knott has put together an interesting collection of articles and pictures highlighting the Town’s quest for legal river access.

Please take note that there will be temporary road closures associated with the races.

  • Beginning at 8:20am, County Route 26A will be closed between Summerset Road & the Gibbons Rd./Sharptown Road intersection. Church Street will close at this time and both roads will remain closed until the conclusion of the race.
  • Sunset Drive will close at 9am for the start of the 5K/Walk. For this road, please travel carefully as the this is the end route for all races into the Town Hall parking lot.
  • Summerset Road & Gibbons Road will close at 9am for the 5K/Walk. The roads will reopen in the opposite direction of the runners/walkers, as the group passes.
  • All road closures will be handled by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Dept. and the Stuyvesant Fire Co. No. 1. The closures will not last for long, please be patient and help us insure the safety of all participants.

We look forward to seeing everyone at one or both of these events.

Sincerely,
The Town of Stuyvesant
